Artist's statement

Why "Natural Steel"?

I call my work natural steel because with it I try to capture the ephemeral beauty of nature in the enduring, industrial medium of steel. I achieve this through several methods, including, hot and cold forging, welding, extensive cutting and grinding, patinazation and, where applicable, industrial clear coat to preserve the finish. I feel that the best of my work captures a moment, like a breeze through tall grasses or a fish darting through the water.

I personally carry out all my work in my studio outside Idaho Falls, ID, overlooking the Tetons. I'm happy to work on commission, or write me for available work.
